| License Your Dog - It's The Law! | |
All area jurisdictions require dogs to be licensed annually. Dog licensing serves two purposes: a license allows public officials to identify your dog should he or she become lost and it helps ensure compliance with vaccinations vital to public health. Even the best trained, best behaved dogs can be involved in unfortunate incidents. Should your dog bite a human (or be accused of biting) a licensed dog is less likely to spend time in quarantine or face euthanasia. Without a license, state law requires a dog suspected of biting a human be quarantined. Failure to have a valid dog license at the OLDA can result in a fine of up to $250. Dogs must wear the license on their collar with no exceptions. |
